The MFL Occupational Health Centre was established in 1983 because there was a need for quality, accessible, and comprehensive services on workplace health and safety. That need continues today.
Workplace health and safety is an important issue for workers and employers. Workers have a right to a safe and healthy work environment. Employers will benefit from lower costs and a healthier workforce.
Workplace health and safety is important to the whole community. Illness or injury on the job affects every aspect of a workers life. Problems at work such as stress can be brought home and put the family at risk. Some workplace risks such as chemical exposures may present an environmental risk, threatening the community at large.
