Working together to create
healthy workplaces

Who Are We?

The MFL Occupational Health Centre (OHC) is a community health centre specializing in workplace health and safety. We are a non-profit, charitable organization funded by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and by donations from individuals, unions and other groups. The OHC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that represents workers throughout Manitoba. We are committed to working with all Manitobans who are interested in creating safer and healthier workplaces.

Why are we here?

The MFL Occupational Health Centre was established in 1983 because there was a need for quality, accessible, and comprehensive services on workplace health and safety. That need continues today.

Workplace health and safety is an important issue for workers and employers. Workers have a right to a safe and healthy work environment. Employers will benefit from lower costs and a healthier workforce.

Workplace health and safety is important to the whole community. Illness or injury on the job affects every aspect of a worker’s life. Problems at work – such as stress – can be brought home and put the family at risk. Some workplace risks – such as chemical exposures – may present an environmental risk, threatening the community at large.
